• My most appropriately laborious painting to date. Yet the hours I spent on it could never compare to the 20 years she spent working in this box. She is shown shutting down the organic and most free parts of herself, represented by the flowers from her birthplace. Her hands ache from her arthritis yet she goes into work everyday with pride. Always arriving early and always bien arreglada. She is compensated with low pay and gold star pins that she proudly wears on her mandil. This painting is about my mixed emotions about my mothers work ethic. On one hand I admire what she’s been able to accomplish with it. On the other, I see how she’s eagerly dedicated to a corporation that just sees her as a number.
